The Carnival
The Carnival
Originating from the depths of colonial history, the Caribbean Carnival Parade emerged as a defiant celebration of freedom and cultural identity among enslaved Africans and their descendants. Born out of the struggle against oppression, this vibrant tradition blossomed into a beacon of resilience and unity for Caribbean communities worldwide. Rooted in the rich tapestry of African and indigenous cultures, the Carnival Parade became a platform for expressing heritage, reclaiming autonomy, and rejoicing in the rhythms of life. Evolving over centuries, it fused elements of African masquerade, European traditions, and indigenous rituals into a dazzling spectacle of color, music, and dance. Today, the Carnival Parade stands as a testament to the strength of Caribbean resilience, drawing together people from all walks of life to celebrate shared history, embrace diversity, and honor the spirit of liberation. It serves not only as a joyous spectacle but also as a vital cultural cornerstone, fostering community pride, economic vitality, and intergenerational bonds that

endure through generations. With each step, each feathered headdress, and each beat of the drum, the Carnival Parade reaffirms its place as a symbol of Caribbean identity, resilience, and unbridled joy.

Ms. Wendy
As a young person growing up with 13 siblings in South America, festivals and carnivals was a major part of our upbringing. It took away a lot of sadness, stress and hunger. The carnival created a happy place for laughter and excitement. Friends and family would gather all there worries and pain and leave it all on the streets of colorful lights and beautiful costumes. Families mustered up the energy to cook all of the best pastries, food while all came to dance and play games. Everyone had the biggest smiles you have ever seen, playing all day and night. Keeping with tradition and inclusion of bridging the gap in America, I long to create the same memories I once had around the carnival to the future generations to come. There is no much pain and divisionin the world today, I feel it is my duty to bring a little of excitement and fun to everyone while celebrating my traditions and I think this event a great start!
